Appraisals can often be misleading or flat out incorrect. If the appraiser isn't familiar with the history of the make and model, it can lead to disastrous results and leave you stuck with a huge repair bill on a car that you paid top dollar for. It happens all the time, and then you cry as it rolls down the driveway after you give it away because you got in too deep.
I specialize in European and Domestic cars from 1940 to 1995, any make or model. I have worked on nearly everything and have done a great deal of rebuild, reconditioning, and restoration work as well as line work, purchase advising, estimating and managing collections over the last 35 years. I've worked with all the body guys, mechanics, upholsterers, used car dealers, you name it, I know all the tricks and sneaky fixes you can imagine.
I am an expert on many European models, and I know what is going to go wrong and what it's really going to cost to fix it. I have also done my time with the Japanese makes, street rods, resto mods etc. and can make clear assessments of the value.
If you're buying investment quality or rapidly appreciating vehicles, it's extremely important to get an appraisal before you buy or sell. Auction prices are great but unfortunately, they aren't reality a lot of the time. Just because one car goes for a million dollars doesn't mean that yours will ever attain that value and it doesn't mean that it won't. The amount that someone invests in a car is not the value. Truth be told, a majority of sellers are losing money. Some use the auction circuit unscrupulously to try to drive the value and recoup their losses. It can be a dirty game and you don't want to be a victim. Get someone who knows and save yourself from financial loss.
I have no vested interest in repair, labor, parts sales, or vehicle acquisition. I only do appraisals. Insurance, Estate, Legal matters etc. are welcome but are secondary to Antique and Classic appraisals.
